Deck the Halls

2012 Edition. Amazingly, it’s our fourth Christmas in this cozy Glover Park apartment, and here’s this year’s recipe for decking these DC halls.

“These two felt Santas were used by Mother before she was married on her tree in the school where she was teaching. She was married in 1903 so they date back at least to 1900. They were always on our tree at home as I grew up and I have hung them every year since. Originally the Santas had black oil cloth belts and a sprig of green with berries in their hand.”
– Handwritten note card from Jeremy’s paternal grandmother that accompanies this single Santa. More than a hundred years later, now he hangs on our tree. –
