The Gray Lady

An interesting, lengthy look at Jill Abramson, the new executive editor of the New York Times, in the October 24 New Yorker.

As complement, here is an interview with Abramson and Jim Lehrer on the News Hour from last June. Knowing that she was hired for the top spot, in part, due to her experience with and vision for Digital, Lehrer’s bumbling intro. to a question about the future of the Times made me laugh. “Looking ahead, as you know, everybody knows, there’s been some technological changes, and the internet, and whatever …”

Anyway, brava.

God, should I go on the record to say I love the way Ms. Abramson talks– well I just did. Impersonations are in order. I also caught her on Charlie Rose, and give her extra points for her book The Puppy Diaries!

Isn’t her voice wonderful? Evidently she gets a lot of crap for it.
