The party before the party

I’ve apologized before, so no more of that. But. Perhaps I should start focusing on pictures and videos rather than words.

A friend of mine and I once considered buying the domain name http://www.morefamousthanyou.com. Based on a quick URL search, we might still have the chance. If that site had ever taken off, these pictures from last weekend would certainly have belonged there.

Before there was Mika

We attended the HRC National Dinner, where President Obama delivered a rousing and marvelous speech, which I’ve embedded below. But first, a few photos I took that night, this one being the winningest of all, and my favorite besides:

Before we got to the President, though, there was the pre-party. J was helping out the Secret Service by checking tickets at the metal detectors and talking into his sleeve, so I traded in my drink tickets for a highball of bourbon and strolled around the silent auction.

And the press line. Here’s the junior senator from Wisconsin Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin.

And Cyndi Lauper!

Mitchell gave the opening remarks,

followed by a song by Greyson Chance?

And then the President was introduced. You can watch his introduction and speech here:

I snapped away, but I’ll spare you most of them.

But I have a fantastic zoom, so —

And then off he went …

We paused for a quick glamour shot,

and then … [totally unexpected surprise] out popped Sarah Jessica Parker!
