I don’t know if we’re grown up enough for that

It’s hard to believe that a year has passed since last year’s HRC dinner and fundraiser where I saw President Obama speak, and where Judy and Dennis Shepard received the first Edward M. Kennedy National Leadership Award.

It’s been a year since I read Judy’s book and remembered Matt.  A year ago there was no federal hate crimes legislation; a year later, there is.  It’s been twelve years since Matthew Shepard died; as that anniversary approaches once again, I thought it would be a fitting tribute to post this interview with his mom.  It was posted on Towleroad a few months ago and is both short and powerful — kinda like Judy.
