DC Clergy United for Marriage Equality

Hat tip to HRC’s Back Story blog for pointing to this article that I missed from the weekend Washington Post about equal marriage rights in the District.

For any DC residents interested in testifying in support of marriage equality, see the information below.  If you prefer to submit written testimony, I will include info. about that as well.

The deadline to sign up to testify is this Thursday Oct. 22 at 5:00pm

From HRC: Providing testimony is quick and easy. You don’t need to be in a same-sex relationship, be interested in getting married, or even be LGBT. All you need is to be willing to speak for up to three minutes about why marriage equality is important to you. To testify, please contact legislative clerk Ms. Deborah Kelly by phone at (202) 724-7808 or by email at dkelly@dccouncil.us. Be sure to provide your full name, address, telephone number, organizational affiliation and title (if any) by 5:00pm Thursday October 22.  Persons wishing to testify are encouraged, but not required, to submit 15 copies of written testimony.  If submitted by the close of business on Thursday October 22 the testimony will be distributed to the Council members before the hearing.
