It made me think

In the universe of expressions I cannot stand, “it made me think” is quite possibly at the tippy tippy top.  I dislike it  primarily because it’s such a cop-out; it made you think about what?  I hear it most frequently following movies.

Now, don’t get me wrong: I understand why people say it; I get their meaning when they do and I usually don’t make a fuss.  It just grates, that’s all.  I find it unenlightening (as phrases go), uninspired and, well, lazy.  I mean, when you think about it, what exactly is the alternative?

Anyway, because I haven’t had much time to post over the weekend, I couldn’t resist posting a link to this article that, I don’t know what else to say, really made me think.

(Seriously, who else but CNN would pick this up?)
